Woodhorn is the number one venue for history in Northumberland. 
Here you'll find archives that span 800 years, the story of coal mining embedded in colliery buildings, artefacts, exciting museum displays, and  a unqiue collection of art produced by miners.

Our dedicated education team provide a wide range of activities for children bringing history to life and making your visit memorable.

Monday - Friday 10am - 3pm

What are the costs

£5 per pupil for a full day visit (2 - 3 workshops plus room for lunch)

£3 per pupil for a half day visit (1 workshop)

Arts Award

Rothbury First World War Trenches 

HLF is funding a new education resource and programme of public events about Rothbury First World War Trenches this summer and autumn. The project is being delivered by Woodhorn, North of England Civic Trust, Forestry Commission and Northumberland County Council. Contact the education team about education workshops.
