The Pitmen Painters Tour

The Great Woodhorn Tour
Learn more about the stories and history behind the exhibitions and displays in the Cutter building with your guide. Go behind the scenes in the archives too and into one of the huge storage pods to see how we store some of the artefacts not currently on display.

The Dark Side Tour
Find out about the dark side of Woodhorn and the human cost of coal. Enter some of the colliery buildings usually off limits to the public and see the amazing machines and equipment needed to keep the colliery running and safe.
Duration: approx 1 hour 15 minutes. No wheelchair access.

Take an in-depth look behind the scenes of the archives. Find out what happens to new objects and how we look after the millions of documents in store.

Spend an evening with our archivists as they explain the process of researching family history. An opportunity to ask those burning questions too.
Duration: approx 2 hours. Monday - Saturday evenings only. Fully accessible.
