William Davison's Printing Shop

25th May - 29th September 2013

The Northumberland Archives at Woodhorn houses a remarkable collection of over 4,500 printer's proofs from William Davison's printing shop in Alnwick.

This eye catching exhibition showcased this fascinating collection which provided a unique glimpse into the social and economic life of a provincial town and its rural surroundings in the first half of the 19th century. The proofs also vividly illustrate the development of more decorative advertising techniques, making this exhibition a must-see for design fans as well as history buffs.

The exhibition featured collections materials, original books from the Local Studies Library Collection as well as printing blocks from Bailiffgate Museum.

This was produced in partnership with: Woodhorn Museum and Bailiffgate Museum
