Winter at Woodhorn

October 25th 2016

Enjoy a magical experience for the whole family from 26th November - 23rd December 2016

For a fabulous festive family day out in the run up to Christmas, Woodhorn Museum has a sleigh-load of goodies and activities guaranteed to thrill and delight visitors of all ages.

The historic former colliery site will radiate seasonal spirit as the twinkling lights and Christmas soundtrack of the Pit Yard Wonderice rink offers a magical skating experience for all in the shadow of the magnificent pit wheels.

Close by, the former colliery stables have been transformed into a glorious grotto for Father Christmas. The man himself will be waiting to hear the secret wishes whispered by children as parents look on, captivated by the delight and wonder on the youngsters’ faces.

Woodhorn’s Winter Market  brings together some of the region’s finest makers and producers in an exclusive shopping experience offering visitors the perfect opportunity to find those distinctive gifts and extra special treats for friends and loved ones.As Christmas gets even closer, an enchanting wintry quest will fascinate and enthral families.

The Frost of Forgetfulness  is creeping across the museum, muddling memories and baffling boffins. Pit canaries sense the danger but need everyone’s help to stop Woodhorn’s precious stories being lost forever! The mission is to follow the frosty trail with a bird cage in hand, collect the clues and solve mysteries for a magical, memorable surprise. Advance booking is recommended for Father Christmas and skating to avoid disappointment. Visit our special events page for dates and times as well as links to bookings.
