Young People Inspired at Woodhorn - June 26th 2010

26 June 2010.

Following on from the recent launch of the new Ashington Group (Pitmen Painters) inspired Woodhorn products produced as part of the national museumaker project, youngsters from the county are currently putting their minds to the same task.

The labels are being developed using professional business planning techniques, and prototypes will be produced under the guidance of North East based marketing, business and design entrepreneurs as well as the London College of Fashion.

Their brief focuses on the business plan, brand and prototype item that Woodhorn could feasibly stock in the museum shop. The winning label will have one of their items taken into production by Woodhorn.

“Our Workshop Galleries buzzed last week as the young people worked with the mentors,” said assistant director Jo Raw. “They came up with some great ideas, and over the next few days they will be working on a prototype product. The winning idea will be selected on Friday, and we are very excited to see what we’ll be looking to produce for the Woodhorn shop.”
